Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Jones.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Monica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Saged Beading all began after a bad relationship (marriage). I was feeling as if something was missing… so I began reading more and deepened my spirituality. I am very active in my church (choir director to be exact) but I began meditating and reading on different stones and crystals… that can heal.
I began making bracelets and waist beads for myself and close friends. Slowly but surely I turned it into a business. I began promoting myself on social media platforms and word of mouth. My business grew. I started hosting pop-ups to encourage others to step out of their comfort zone and they went well and still doing well. I sage each piece before it is sold to ensure that there is no bad energy in the custom piece. After much prayer, strong faith and an incredible support system Saged Beading has been going strong for three years now.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been smooth. There had been a few bumps in the road… but anything worth having is worth fighting for. After almost 20 years of being a special needs teacher… I needed a break and I wasn’t giving up on becoming my own boss. Naysayers will always have something to say I had to learn how to ignore those types and keep creating. Business can be tricky if you aren’t aware of what’s going on but this is my second, after running my dance studio for seven years I was ready to tackle any obstacle that came my way.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Saged Beading is a custom beaded company. I create waistbeads, energy bracelets for men and women. I think what sets me apart is that my bracelets are all custom made and never duplicated. In addition, a person can tell me what it is they are searching for in life and I create based off of the different stones. I am most proud of having the vision and sticking to it… never letting anything distract my focus.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always the artsy girl. I was in dance classes and art classes. My mom says that I always would take nothing and somehow turn into something… I love art. I live to create. I have always been interested in running my own businesses. I combined my favorite things and made it work for me.
