Meet Miya Nicole of Nisa the Woman in Born and Raised in Pacoima, Ca the GR818!

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miya Nicole.

Miya, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born singing! I come from a family of church/gospel singers. My mother, Lara Meeks, is a gospel singer and has her own Gospel group ‘Melodius’ so, they were always at the house rehearsing and my father, Sonny Williams was always playing oldies so I was always around music! I attended Christian School growing up and they had a school choir so I naturally was just attracted to being apart. I had my first solo and everything! The Church loved me! Every school I attended I found myself joining the choir. I love singing! What is funny though I was also an athlete! I played all sports Track & Field, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Etc. I am multi-talented I guess I could say! I attended Millikan Middle School & Performing Arts Magnet in Sherman Oaks, CA. I was accepted into the school because of my singing, acting and dancing, but I was only going there for Singing and Dance not theater! I was in an award winning choir all 3 years our instructor, Leo Krubsack, was and still is a BEAST. In 7th grade he recommended me for the Conservatory of Fine Arts which is a 19-week Saturday morning program, offered on the campus of CSU Los Angeles, that is open to LAUSD students who have been identified as talented in the arts. The professionals from the specific arts fields stretched our abilities in our selected disciplines. We focused on the skills and techniques needed to be ready for a career in the arts. I was then recognized as Gifted in music and went on to being a very advanced singer at a young age. I attended Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, CA and was in the choir all 4 years and also running track & field. My 11th grade year I was Women’s choir president. At the end of my high school year I didn’t know if I wanted to pursue music or running! After a semester of going to LAVC I decided I did not want to be in a typical school environment anymore and no longer wanted to pursue running. I then went on a search for a great music school in LA and found Musician’s Institute In Hollywood, CA. I attended MI for a year and made lots of great friends and new connections. In October 2019 I released my first single ‘Rear Viewin’ and it was a hit! Since then in 2020 I have released 2 more singles ‘Ricochet’ and ‘Lil Baby’.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Most definitely not! I have had my fair share of being unmotivated, uninspired and feeling as if Im not good enough. However, I know that I am destined for greatness and that GOD never gives you anything you can’t handle. He gave me this voice for a reason. So, I also remember the bigger picture and remember the goals I’ve set for myself and continue to go hard!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I will be releasing music all year long so stay tuned thats all I have to say LOL follow me on IG @Nisathewoman

What were you like growing up?
I was America’s perfect angel! LOL, not! OMG I was a beautiful disaster. I easily made friends wherever I went. Me being so involved in sports most of my friends were guys at first! Then I started to try and get my girl friends so I literally wouldn’t turn into a boy hahaha. My friends would most definitely describe me as the fun, crazy, out going one! I’m the life of the party!
