Meet Mindy Worsley of SoCal Threads Boutique in Valencia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mindy Worsley.

Mindy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always had a love of fashion and a drive to start my own business. I wanted to create a boutique where women could shop online from a carefully curated collection of brands and pieces to make shopping easy and fun. Finding clothing that makes women feel confident and beautiful is the passion behind my boutique. As a mom of three kids, I know shopping as a mother isn’t easy.

Our bodies change along with our lifestyles, but we still want to be stylish and comfortable (even if it’s just to drop the kids off at school). I’m 40 years old and don’t have the body I had when I was 20 and at times I struggle with that and know that I’m not alone. As women we are too hard on ourselves. We’re all created differently and are all beautiful in our own way and I want my boutique to highlight this. I make it a point to carefully choose items that will be flattering on most body types.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Entrepreneurship is in my genes. My family growing up owned their own furniture store, it was because of my mom’s dream to own a furniture store, that I saw first hand how if you were willing to put in the hard work and take the time to make each customer feel special you can succeed. Growing up in a small town everyone knows everyone!! If we didn’t carry what a customer wanted you would reach out to another business for the customer. There wasn’t that highly competitiveness you have these days or in a bigger city. This truly has been my biggest struggle with starting my own boutique. I firmly believe we are better together in community while supporting each other. I absolutely LOVE partnering with other small business or boss babes. Life is too short, I want my time here on earth to be one with no regrets and living each day in a way that is someone speaks badly of me my friends know it isn’t true. Unfortunately it’s a highly competitive industry and sometimes people especially with social channels people can be unkind at times.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SoCal Threads Boutique – what should we know?
We specialize in women and junior clothing. We have a specially handpicked curated collection of brands we love such as Z Supply, Lovestich, Just Black Denim, Flying Monkey to name a few. We are always looking for new and unique items to add to our boutique. We carry many accessories such as jewelry, hair, totes, hats, belts, baby items and even a few doggie zoo supply items too.

In addition to being an online boutique I also offer by appointment only shopping and style sessions. Nothing makes me happier than getting messages from customers to personally help them choose items, it’s like having your own personal stylist. I love having local shoppers come and shop, in person, in our studio or during our pop-up events around our community. I love getting to know my customers personally.

I also take pride in our “models” being women from the SCV community and love having them as the women behind the brand. Real everyday women. We encourage with each purchase “LIKE IT – LOVE IT – SHARE IT @socalthreadsboutique or #socalthreads we want to see our customers wearing their SoCal Threads and love highlighting our customers in our stories and feed daily. We love supporting other businesses and doing shout outs to support their dreams too. My goal would be to have as many of our shoppers highlighted on the website and social pages as possible. It puts a smile on my face every time I see someone wearing SoCal Threads!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
SoCal Threads Boutique opened November 2017. We are a family-owned boutique and continue to grow more than we could ever imagine because of the support of my amazing husband, our kids, friends and our shoppers!! We really do have the BEST shoppers. We love seeing all the posts on their social media sharing SoCal Threads. We have to give a big shoutout to our family in Michigan (our biggest cheerleaders and role models!) where my husband and I both were born and raised. Even though we have been in CA for 15 years now, Michigan will always be home as well they have helped spread SoCal threads across the country. We have shoppers all over the US and it is because of our amazing customers sharing with their family and friends. We feel so blessed to be on this journey with so many people supporting and coming alongside us on this adventure.
