Meet Million Essex of Insomnia Krew in Palm Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Million Essex.

Million, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started sitting in my friends cavalier in high school and he would play me his beats and said you should freestyle. I’ve always been in tune with music and listening to all genres growing up but this helped get me started on something bigger. Creating music has always been my Escape from reality but then again, it speaks my reality. I’ve found myself constantly with expression through my music. Producing a beat and listening to all types of different melodies made it to whereas a creator, I never was stuck inside the box creatively. Music then of course got me more into the fashion world of being able to put outfits together and not being scared to be edgy and raw with my appearance.

I eventually got into silkscreen work for a brand with my brother and then heat transfer for my brand in house and building my website to showcase my own logos and start a business. Getting into photography myself has also brought me into another creative world. Art is different in everyone’s eye and its something that I’ve grown into more and moreover the years of capturing buildings to photoshoots of friends. I’ve learned there’s no right or wrong way to represent who you are. Life is mysterious and we live in a world where we’re supposed to be and act a certain way. I say live free in your own skin always and keep finding ways to be your best. YOU’RE NEVER TO OLD OR TO YOUNG TO DO WHAT YOU DESIRE

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing comes easy as they say but id rather the grind over anything handed to me. Finding a solid team and self-motivation can be tough on your road to success and grabbing ahold of your dream. Doing it alone is tough but you have to keep the focus and continue dreaming big.

Please tell us about Insomnia Krew.
Insomnia Krew productions started as Insomnia kids with some friends making music in a garage then I switched it to Krew as I got older and then added Productions because I started getting involved with more beat making/photography/djing/putting shows together so I felt in needed more to the title of all the things I can provide. I’m an Artist that loves a stage loves seeing true reactions from people you don’t know after a performance and during. People see me as that one artist with no boundaries when the mic hits my hands its time to engage. I’m proud of my company because I associate with individuals that*Grind All Day Sleeps Not A Priority* (Insomnia Krew Slogan) everyone has their own image their own perks their own individuality/orientation I love seeing everyone push each other and build each other up for greatness. What sets me apart is I’ve never cared to do things alone if need be I would go to performances by myself, no friends in the audience or anything that was my chance to gain new fans test my skills and be uncomfortable/nervous at times. Trends are cool but it’s cooler to create your own W8VE. Be a leader not a follower is Key.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would only say doing it sooner taking the risk of putting things out there. Once you do it, you see people have already been waiting for this stepping stone in your life but sometimes (a lot of times) we critique our own work too much and miss the process of we have to stumble to make it right
