Meet Mikii Rathmann of Neon Carrot Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikii Rathmann.

Mikii, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I remember as a kid that my dad would have these famous parties. People would come from miles around. He would build a big stage behind the barn, set up BBQ’s galore, and people would put up tents in the yard. Everyone danced, laughed, cooked, played music and forgot their troubles. I always marveled over it, how a party could be so magical. How it could be an escape.

Prior to starting Neon Carrot Events I worked in the hotel industry for nearly 20 years. I love hotels. I learned so much about business, travel, hospitality, events and what made me happy. It was epic. My clients benefit from it every day. There is nothing more exciting than having a group of people come together under one roof for something fun. The energy, the laughter, the ideas. It’s inspiring, and as a wedding and event planner I’m thrilled that I get to be a part of it.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a small business owner can be daunting. The one thing that I try to remind myself is not to forget to be awesome! It’s so easy to get in your own way, and doubt your skills and abilities. Do great work. Be kind. Trust your instincts, and remember the reason you started the adventure in the first place. The great thing is that after a number of years you realize that you’re not trying to run an event planning company…you ARE running an event planning company.

The other thing is to surround yourself with power partners. People who are successful and work with the same kinds of customers you do. You will learn a bunch, develop friendships, and most importantly establish referral partners. Which will help you to maintain and grow your business.

Neon Carrot Events – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
At Neon Carrot Events we refuse to believe that event planning should be a stressful experience. As your partner in planning, we recruit the ideal team of vendors, provide you with expert advice, imaginative ideas and orchestrate all the logistical details. You get to enjoy all the fun aspects of planning your event, while avoiding the stress and anxiety of the behind-the-scenes work.

We help all couples plan weddings.

We help families plan landmark celebrations; birthdays from 1-100, graduations, anniversaries, holiday parties, and just because you want a party parties!

We work with businesses to celebrate grand openings. To plan and execute annual conferences, training meetings, and award dinners.

What sets us apart is our kindness and work ethic. I’ve lost count at how many times we’ve been told how great we are to work with. We’re nice, calm, and enjoy our jobs. I was surprised at first when I heard this, as I thought all event planners would demonstrate these qualities. It turns out that’s not the case…we’re unique!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It’s a little bit silly but I still blush when someone comes up to me and says “oh you’re Mikii from Neon Carrot Events! I love your work! or I stalk you on Instagram! or I’ve heard about you!”

I’m just being me, and doing my thing. It feels good when out of know where someone recognizes my efforts. It makes me feel proud.
