Meet Miguel Andrisani in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miguel Andrisani.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Pasadena, California and spent most of my childhood in Rosario, Argentina. Argentina is where my love for art really came alive. Being an artist, it didn’t take long to realize I could transition my passion for art into a makeup career. Since then I have been simultaneously working in both mediums of design. I am professionally trained in both graphics arts, and makeup.

Visual Art
My work is primarily transcribed digitally which allows me to explore colors, play with hues and shading and the placement of the overall composition. My love for mermaids, fantasy and creating something people will love is what really makes me happy. I always know when I’m feeling ugh, I should draw and let out my emotions on paper to truly escape reality for a little bit.

Makeup Artistry
I am a union (I.A.T.S.E. 706) Makeup Artist surrounded in a world full of fashion, beauty and glamour. I am heavily trained both academically and in-the-field. I’ve worked in all genres from Editorial, Celebrity, Commercial, Film, Runway, Weddings, Stage, and Television.

My strengths as a makeup artist brought me into television working as a freelancer for Twentieth Century Fox publicity. For going on six years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity of working on Wheel of Fortune, both in-studio and on the road. Aside from TV, I’ve also been working with some awesome singers and musicians creating magic.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s pretty much been a smooth road, my biggest challenges have always come from within. Learning to defeat the little devil on my left shoulder, and learning from the obstacles I create, makes me stronger, wiser and happier. I’m a huge believer that everything happens for a reason, and that good things comes when you put your whole heart, mind and love into everything you do or desire.

Please tell us about Migs Art & Migs Makeup.
Most recently, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to design a larger than life public art piece for the City of West Hollywood. I was able to express my love for the City that has accepted me personally and more-so broaden my scope of who I am and what I can offer to the world. My challenge was to convert a poem which had 100s of city specific themes and express them all in 1 piece of art that resides in the courtyard of West Hollywood City Hall on Santa Monica & Sweetzer. If you have time, I would highly suggest stopping by to check it out. Migs Art has shown in galleries and art fairs from Los Angeles, Dana Point, Huntington Bach, Palm Springs, Long Beach and Downtown LA. So far this has been a really awesome experience, and I can’t wait to see what’s coming up. For the past few years I’ve been working with an international swimwear line designing youth apparel and swimwear. In-terms of my makeup career I’d had my most celebrated victories over the past few years, doing makeup for some of television icons in some of the of most beautiful locations.

My passion has lead me all over the world doing makeup, and of course drawing from my experiences along the way. As a true artist, I pull from my life experiences to create ART! I don’t feel that anything in particular sets me apart from others, I’m just me and that’s makes unique.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My aunt took me and my brother to Sea World, I must have been 8 or 11 years old and I peed my pants, and she made me sit on a towel in car. Don’t ask me why, but I just love that story… I always remember summer nights in Argentina, riding bikes with all my friends through the city to their weekend homes and braking in just to jump in the pool, fun times,! Oh and I used to build forts with my cousins at our grandparents house, we would decorate them to the max, fully equipped with kitchens and whatnot. But then again in some respects, I’m still a 36 y/o child and living my youth drawing mermaids and fairs lol, hopefully I never grow out of it!
