Meet Mid-City Photographer: Ken Morrison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Morrison.

Ken, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started Photography in high school. It was a hobby that I dabbled in for many years. In 2000 my girlfriend (now wife) was glancing through my photo albums and asked me why was I not shooting professionally. So, with her encouragement, I began my professional career and I’ve never looked back.

Has it been a smooth road?
Initially, I did a lot of red carpet/celebrity events. The competition amongst photographers was very intense. However, my previous career as an L.A. City Firefighter had given me a pretty tough skin. And being blessed with very wide shoulders helped in moving the competition out of the way. 🙂

Do you feel luck has played a role in your life?
I’ve been very fortunate in my life and career. Positivity has surrounded me and negative experiences have been minimal.

Do you feel like there are certain traits that increase the likelihood of success?
Keeping my word is of utmost importance. Being prompt and professional are qualities that transferred from my Firefighting career to my Photography career.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the natural beauty and diversity of our city.

The smog is what I like least of all.
