Meet Mickella Rumbolt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mickella Rumbolt.

Hi Mickella, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Mickella Rumbolt, and I am the owner of Chosen Designs, an urban Christ-centered clothing and accessory brand representing positivity through inspirational fashion and community events.

Being born premature with undeveloped lungs and a dock in my heart was something that always made me who I am. I always asked myself, what can I do for God to make a positive impact, and how can I make a difference in my community with the skills I have? I had a passion for fashion and always believed that I was chosen for greater things. Which is how, in 2018, Chosen Designs and recently Chosen Cares, our community outreach initiative began.

As Chosen Designs continues to gain support locally and internationally, it has been and continues to be an ongoing journey. As an entrepreneur, there are good days and bad days. I always must remind myself to keep pushing, keep being consistent and keep providing value. I believe everyone is chosen, chosen for anything they put their mind to. “For many are called, but few are chosen.” – Matthew 22:14

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As an entrepreneur, you’re always learning as your grow. It’s never a smooth road, it’s more like a roller coaster. There are good days and bad days. There are major successes you accomplish, and major loses or learning experiences along the way.

A struggle I faced along my journey, which many can relate to, is simply balancing my work / personal life.

As a creative or at the beginning stages of your business, you tend to do everything on your own. Yes, it’s ok to work on your business, but I feel like your life needs a balance and a break at times. The obstacle here might be overworking yourself and just realizing that it’s ok to slow things down, to get help, to collaborate, to establish good connections, and essentially build a team which you can trust.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a fashion designer, clothing brand owner & most recently a special events planner. At Chosen Designs, we specialize in urban Christ-centered clothing and accessories. We are known for our over-the-top sunglasses, luxury designer bag, and our positive, uplifting streetwear apparel. Chosen has come a long way throughout the years, and I am most proud of my consistency/dedication. I’m always learning, always pushing myself, and always striving to be better.

Earlier this year, we hosted our very first fashion show and vendor market, “In the Beginning,” with over 100+ guests. That night was one of my proudest / greatest accomplishments ever. The event was filled with genuine love and support from everyone. It was an amazing and overwhelming night with such positive feedback and energy.

What sets us apart from other brands is the passion we have. It’s more than just the sales. If we can leave a positive impact through our apparel/community events, social media, content creation, and partnerships/collaborations that’s the goal.

“For many are called, but few are chosen” – Matthew 22:14 is the scripture we go by. We want people to be proud to represent God and proud to wear Chosen. To not only to be uplifted and motivated within themselves but to also change the lives of others in an impactful and positive way.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Rather than the role of luck, I would say I am blessed by God. Blessed to wake up another morning, blessed with the ability to create and have a business, blessed to be passionate about what I do, and essentially blessed throughout any circumstance, good or bad. Within life or my business, I take everything as a blessing or learning experience. When things don’t go as planned, it’s ok because it’s a part of the growth and journey in becoming better.
