Meet Michelle Hahm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Hahm.

Hi Michelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In November 2019, my 12 years old Maltese dog passed away suddenly due to congestive heart failure. To think this he could’ve lived a few more years from a better diet still hurts me so much. It still pains me so much to think about how I failed him and I knew if I have another dog in my life, I would put more research a lot into what food I give them.

In 2020, Russ, my standard poodle baby boy, came into my life. I remember going into these pet stores and there were so many treat options. What’s good? What’s bad? What do these ingredients mean? After doing a bit of research and diving deep into the ig dog community, I knew I wanted single-ingredient treats. I couldn’t find any that Russ could stomach since he has a sensitive stomach and allergies.

I finally came across a few small businesses, but none were local to me in Los Angeles nor did it resonate with me. I loved seeing all the businesses sharing pictures of dogs out in nature, but I live in the city. Yes, I would rather be outdoors exploring with my dogs but realistically is not my normal daily routine. So I wanted to create treats that other people can connect with.

I did a lot of research with sourcing proteins from small markets/butcher shops, ethical farms, and USDA-certified processing facilities. I dehydrate every single item myself at low temperatures (which can take a few days to even a week, depending on the item), with no fillers/preservatives/additives.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
A lot of my treats aren’t the…. best looking. People who are new to my company see my products and say “ew” because they see a full duck head or rabbit feet with fur. Many aren’t accustomed to seeing a fully natural state product vs. a chicken jerky.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Single ingredient dehydrated treats and chews for pets!
