Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Gifford.
Michelle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After college, my husband and I moved to Arizona so that he could attend medical school. I was six months pregnant and I didn’t want to get a job because I wanted to stay home with my new baby, but man, I was restless. So, I started an Etsy shop selling little girl homemade hats.
I remember the moment when one of my hats sold just 24 hours after listing it and it was magic, just magic. I was hooked.
That Etsy shop led to me selling handmade dresses and dress patterns, which lead me to photography, which led me to start a photography non-profit, which lead me to teach photographers business which led me to become a business coach, strategist and content queen.
During that business journey, I had five kids along the way and my husband became a doctor.
I believe we live in the best time in the world. Because of technology, moms can be at home with their kids AND building a business that they love. I am very passionate about helping women, and especially moms, find ways to grow a business that makes them money, leaves a massive impact and fulfills them.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to growing a business is rarely smooth and never straight. Growing a business alongside of raising babies is tricky. I think that a lot of people feel that running a business is at odds with their motherhood. But, looking back, I see that my business has actually supported my motherhood.
My businesses have stretched me, taught me amazing skills, introduced me to amazing people, given me experiences I never thought possible, and given me confidence and trust in God and myself.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Michelle Gifford Creative – what should we know?
Michelle Gifford Creative has two arms: a teaching and coaching arm and a strategic content management arm.
Many creatives are creating content to grow their business, but few creatives know how to do it correctly and are not doing things that will actually make them money with their content. They focus too much energy on follower count and not enough time on content conversion.
I have courses that teach how to create content that converts into more money and I also have group coaching to help keep my people accountable.
The service side of my businesses specializes in managing Pinterest, Email and blogging for businesses. What makes us different from other companies is that we add business strategy and coaching to our content management services so that our clients can be confident in the content they create.
I’m most proud of the success that our clients have after they hire us. We have Food Network chefs, Influencers, food bloggers and shop owners and I’m so proud of the work they are doing and that we get to help get their message out to more people.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Building a successful business doesn’t happen alone. I have so many people who deserve credit. God number one. He has helped and guided me through so many decisions. Then my husband who has always believed in me (no matter how crazy the idea). My kids for putting up with me while I create websites while watch movies with them (they have even started their own cooking for kids Youtube channel. I couldn’t be more proud!). My life coach Lisa Funk from Hand Lettered Design. My business bff Kirsten Tyrrel. My business sister Mackenna from Piep.co. My business lawyer Brittany Ratelle and really, so many more.
