Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Watkins.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always loved art graphic design and I picked up photography shortly after graduating high school and absolutely fell in love with it and was so excited it was so much more than Just snapping a picture. The thing that really amaze me was how much freedom you have with photography and how artistic you can be with. Like I said it’s not just a quick snapshot you’re controlling time and motion and lighting and t just snapping a picture. The thing that really amaze me was how much freedom you have with photography and how artistic you can be with. Like I said it’s not just a quick snapshot your controlling time and motion lighting hats something that never ceases to amaze me.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road… as with any hobby or passion or I think there’s certain times where anybody Will get discouraged and second-guess themselves and always sit and wonder “is this what I should be doing? Am I good enough?” And I’ve definitely had those thoughts before I had times where I just don’t feel inspired but I always remember how much I love what I do. And how exciting and fun and rewarding it is
We’d love to hear more about your business.
So right now I’m running my own photography company I always strived to be able to work in many different areas such as portraiture sports landscape and even video. I’m also a photo journalism major which I love because that is a whole Other Side photography… And I can incorporate my portrait and sports and landscape photography into photojournalism which I think is great because it kind of jealous packages everything together… In terms of things I’m proud of as a company I think I would measure that in my favorite pictures that I’ve taken… One of my favorite most memorable pictures is a picture of a leopard I took in South Africa at sunset or A portrait of a baseball player I took that one an award in photojournalism at the JACC regional competition.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yeah, I feel like Los Angeles is in amazing place for anybody in the same field, it’s always been no one has a place for careers like this so I think it’s a great city to sort out
