Michael, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After being dissatisfied with a series of corporate gigs – and getting laid off in August 2016 – I started getting the message that it was time for me to go out on my own. I spoke with friends about it, as well as a couple of entrepreneurs I know who have had their own companies for many years.
It was this combination of listening to my inner voice and getting the advice of people I trust that allowed me to start weho digital. One friend told me, “You know how to do this. Now you’re just doing it for yourself.”
Has it been a smooth road?
Fear of failure was my biggest obstacle once I got the idea to start weho digital. Plenty of negative thoughts raced through my brain: “What if I don’t make enough money? “…”Is anyone going to do business with me?”…things like that.
Meeting with my business mentor – and creating a simple business plan for my first year – was what got me past my fear. I recommend every entrepreneur build a network of people they trust whom they can go to when things seem overwhelming.
Once I started, in February 2017, the next challenge was really just prioritizing and time management. It’s important to learn what to say no to so you can focus on what is worth pursuing.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m a native Angeleno (born and raised near UCLA) so I may be a bit biased. I find LA to be one of the most creative, diverse and culturally relevant cities in the world. There’s an energy here that is undeniable and always someone smart and interesting to connect with — whether personally or professionally.
What do I like least? It is, by far and away, the God-awful traffic.
