Meet Michael Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Harris.

Michael, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up religious, it was not easy coming out as gay. When I turned 18, I knew the direction of life I wanted to take, so I started taking action and living my true self as authentically as possible. I’ve loved fashion ever since I could remember so I knew I always wanted to be a model.

As I have grown and continue to grow, I find myself being capable of doing a lot of things I never thought were even in my grasp. It has not in any sense been easy, yet I feel that is when you know that where you are going is right. No dream is impossible, and I plan on turning my greatest fantasy into an extraordinary reality.

Has it been a smooth road?
I feel like for anyone in the gay community that had a religious upbringing can relate when I say that it was beyond difficult struggling with my sexuality. Not saying that if you didn’t grow up religious it wasn’t hard, yet those obstacles felt so much bigger. The bullying in school was definitely one of the worst things. School is rough, I think it is one of the most challenging chapters of your life. Yet it shapes you into the person you are. I’m one of the lucky ones when I say that I was for the most part excepted with nothing but love and acceptance. Life is one big experience and it is up to us on how to react and who to become.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I started modeling when I was 18 and now I’m 22. The last few years, I have been building my portfolio and taking the steps necessary to build myself and my business. Networking myself through as many agencies and photographers. Collaborating with other creatives and models. The best thing about LA is that the diversity the artistry and the talent is infinite.

I have had the honor of being able to work with someone the most amazing and talented artists. I’m proud to be able to say that I’m passionate and ambitious, I’d have to say that’s what I’m most known for. What sets me apart from others is not just my looks but my character. I’m definitely one of a kind! I was made for the fashion industry. That passion and desire runs through my veins and I won’t give up until I’m there.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I see myself more than just a fashion model. I see myself being an entrepreneur, business owner, and on the cover of magazines. A lot of people think that dreams are just fantasies. I believe that we have the capability of accomplishing anything we want in life no matter how big. So I see myself doing extraordinary things. I have always had big dreams and the talent to do them. I always tell people I feel like I was born for this life and I stick by that. I see a lot of big shifts and changes in my life for sure, I believe that’s how your outlook should be.
