Meet Melody Dardashti of Melody E. Photography in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Dardashti.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Although I always considered myself the creative type, my love for photography developed over time. It wasn’t until 10 years ago when my oldest sister Debbie was pregnant, that I had my aha-moment. Watching this person, I had known my whole life transition from woman to mother was something I never wanted to forget.

So I captured it and all it’s beautiful details. It was at that moment I knew that I want to photograph once in a lifetime moments like the beauty of a growing belly and the miracle that is a newborn baby. I enrolled in a few classes at Santa Monica College for Graphic Design and started my journey as a photographer and graphic designer.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overall it has been an amazing experience. I have been blessed to work with so many amazing friends and clients that over time have become friends. I would have to say that getting started on my own was the most challenging part. It definitely required me to step out of my comfort zone. Becoming a mom last year definitely helped me improve my newborn photography. Now I have a few more tricks up my sleeve!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Melody E. Photography – what should we know?
I specialize in newborn, maternity, child and family photography. I don’t really have a set style but I tend to lean towards a clean yet whimsical feel.

I put a lot of love, creativity and work into each session and the editing process. I try to make each session unique and capture the true nature and love each family shares.

I am most proud of what my clients have to say about me and the photographs that I take. They always tell me how patient I am and easy to work with. There are so many amazing aspects of being a family photographer. I leave each session feeling that I have made a new friend. I love how much happiness my photos bring to my clients. It’s a very rewarding feeling to see my photographs adding a touch of love and warmth to their homes.

I consider it one of my greatest privileges to be asked to document the beauty, the life and the love people share.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would not be where I am today without my amazing husband, family and friends and their support. From the very beginning they encouraged me to follow my passion in photography. They believed in me and helped spread the word. I have to give a shout out to my mom, Sophia, my #1 cheerleader. In fact, I think she’s where I get my creative side from. Throughout my whole life she has always loved and supported me. Thanks mom!
