Meet Melissa Rosenstock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Rosenstock.

Melissa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in health, nutrition and fitness. Beyond enjoying it as a hobby, I was always seeking ways to further my knowledge of it and continue to learn about ways to improve my health. As passionate as I was about health and wellness, it hadn’t occurred to me to pursue it as a career…yet.

I was on the brink of turning 39, with two young children, working a full-time job that was unfulfilling, to say the least. I mean, it was a good job in that it gave me security in knowing I had health insurance and a steady paycheck, but it was not something I was passionate about, nor did I love to go to work everyday. A friend of mine had posted about a program involving health and nutrition and my interest was piqued. As I contemplated enrolling in the Health Coach Training Certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), I realized I had been living my life based on other’s expectations of me and for the betterment of my family and in so doing, forsaking my own desires. At that moment, I decided (with my husband and family’s support!) to do something for myself, and I enrolled in the year long certification program with IIN.

From the very first module of that program, I knew that this was what I was born to do. It was an epiphany and one that was so obvious from the outside looking in, but one I couldn’t see when I was deep in it. Enrolling in IIN was a turning point on many levels, but most importantly for me deciding to put my needs on my own priority list. At IIN, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with many of the world’s top health and wellness experts.

After receiving my Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Certificate and becoming a Certified International Health Coach (CIHC), I left my full-time job to grow my health and life coaching business. By investing in myself and taking care of my needs, it enhanced every aspect of my life — relationships, career, and overall emotional and physical well-being. I realized we are fueled beyond the food we eat. We are nourished by the energy of our lives. What you eat, what you think, and what you do all play a role in your well-being.

This profound transformation further fueled my passion, and it became my mission to empower women to create their dream life — thriving in body, mind and soul, giving them the fuel for optimal living. I am determined to awaken the soul desires of other women wanting to challenge the status quo, igniting them to stop settling for mediocrity and to create the extraordinary life they deserve to live.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth, and that’s okay! Having been in employee mode for most of my professional career, taking the jump into entrepreneurship came with its set of challenges.

The health and wellness industry is a very competitive market, and it can be a struggle to stand out from the crowd and find the people who need you.

The bumps along the way are all a part of the journey and I see each bump in the road as a learning opportunity to improve myself and learn from the mistakes, missteps, and challenges.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I specialize in helping women to create sustainable habits that optimize their health, happiness, and overall well-being. I work with women going through transitional phases of life (career change, motherhood, divorce, loss, etc.) to empower them to own their worthiness and to create a life where their own health and well-being are the top priority.

I am known for focusing on the emotional well-being component and how/why that matters in optimizing your overall health. I give women the tools they need to increase their energy, lose weight, feel comfortable in their skin, and create permanent healthy habits that are sustainable for life through customized 1:1 and group coaching programs.

What I am most proud of, besides my bestselling book I collaborated on, “It’s Not About the Food,” I am also proud of the “Worthy & Well” group coaching program I created. This program is what sets me apart from others in my industry, as it aims to empower women to embody their worth, prioritize their health and well-being, and break free from mediocrity to create a life that nourishes their soul.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I have an intrinsic drive and determination to be my best and to help others to do the same. By far though, the most essential quality and characteristic is my ability to listen wholeheartedly to my clients, and beyond that, to hear what’s not being said, to help them see their “blindspots” that stand in the way of their own success.

Above all, I value authenticity, integrity, and being the best I can be. A motto I live by is, “Better Than Yesterday.”
