Meet Meghan Gilboa of Facialworks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan Gilboa.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Meghan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began working as an esthetician and eventually opened my own private spa. As I was gaining experience there, I realized there was a need for quick no downtime treatment that delivered immediate results. Facialworks became that affordable and convenient option for PEOPLE.

When we first opened, we had a few ideas about where the company could go. Four years later, we now have three locations in OC (and growing!) and an entire product line that correlates with each of our facials. We have continually made adjustments as we improved along the way. It has shown in the growth we have seen year after year.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
True success is never a smooth road! It’s definitely been a rollercoaster, with many highs and some learning opportunities as well.

Marketing a new concept is always a challenge. It’s taken years to build the brand awareness that we now have. We originally ran the business completely on our own (with my husband as the front desk!), so delegating to managers was a challenge at first!

Finding people who believe in our mission and fit the company culture was a task at first, but we now have an amazing management and corporate team who we couldn’t live without!

Facialworks – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Facialworks is the original facial bar! We do one thing and we do it well! The estheticians that work here go through a thorough training process with our regional trainer has been with the company basically since we started. Our bread and butter is going to be the Facial Bar which allows clients to sit together (similar to a blow out bar set-up), and receive a full skin care service in a social atmosphere (with champagne of course!).

We are most proud of how far we have come in a short amount of time. The team we have built and our overall reputation has made us very proud. We also have had two babies in the four years that we have been open… try doing all that at one time! 🙂

My passions have been skin care, beauty and fashion since childhood. I always dreamed of moving to the beach and starting my own business. I come from a family of an entrepreneur, so it’s in my blood!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Definitely the day we opened our third location! Our second and third locations opened within one week of each other (no that was not the plan!). The fact that we have two locations completely ready to go, built out, staffed and ready to go at the same time made me so proud!
