Meet Megan Wang of Skin & Seoul Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Wang.

Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love for skincare developed when my two worlds of passion collided. With a B.S. in Chemistry, I became so fascinated in the chemical compounds in the skin and the nutrients it needs to function as a healthy organ. As I dove into the world of beauty as a makeup artist, I realized that skin care was key. Your skin is the foundation, and makeup is only an accessory.

Because I wanted to combine my two passions, I started doing research and learned more about the skincare world, I discovered Korean Beauty and its emphasis on natural products and natural beauty and got absolutely hooked. I traveled to Seoul, Korea to test and research the natural products & brands that were popular among the people in Seoul. I came back with a new found knowledge of Korean skincare and a desire to create a forefront for K-Beauty for everyone.

Has it been a smooth road?
I just launched my company in June, so there are still a lot of hurdles to tackle. Even with a clear vision in mind, it is never a smooth road to get a business started. Because I came from a chemistry background with no knowledge in business, I had to learn from mentors, friends, and also did my own research to figure out how to tackle the business world.

One of the biggest struggles is just taking the risk itself because as with any start-up, you will never know the outcome. I have had to do trial and error with what works for marketing as well as what products I should carry based on consumer feedback. We are also in the stages of building brand awareness, which is one of our largest hurdles at the moment.

I’ve luckily found a passionate team of content creators that have greatly helped me build the business name purely through social media marketing.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Skin & Seoul Beauty – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Skin & Seoul Beauty is a Los Angeles-based, online store that offers 100% authentic Korean skincare products. I personally curated products that are natural, plant-based, fruit-based, and full of ingredients that stem from the Korean culture, such as rice, brown pine leaves, green tea, & red beans, etc. These products will also contain beneficial ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, BHA’s, and AHA’s, which will help moisturize, firm, and rejuvenate your skin.

There are many different online resources and retail stores that sell K-beauty. With this in mind, I did not stray away from creating Skin & Seoul Beauty. At the end of the day, I always have to remind myself that there is only one ME. I am the one that sets Skin & Seoul Beauty apart from any competitor in this field.

I am proud to be the curator and forefront of K-beauty because I am very educated in the beauty and science industry. Skin & Seoul Beauty not only carries K-beauty products but also educates you on the steps of a skincare routine. Being a millennial, I see the power in social media and social media influencers.

I am spreading awareness in a way that targets all audiences, not just those who like skincare. Every influencer has a different audience. Skin & Seoul Beauty strives to educate all types of men and women on K-beauty & skincare. It is a trusted platform where everyone can come to for their skincare needs.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Moving here 4 years ago was probably one of the best decisions I have made. I love the diversity and creativity in Los Angeles. Everyone that I meet in Los Angeles has their own story and experience. Learning from others has helped me grow into the person I am today.

I love constantly meeting new people because it gives me more opportunities to create ideas, develop my mind, and fulfill my own happiness with experiences. There isn’t anything I dislike about Los Angeles besides the traffic (which everyone can probably agree on, haha!)
