Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Potts.
Hi Megan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started with my company in 2013, I was 19 years old and just looking for a 2nd job to help pay for school and life when I was invited for an interview that included a live lunch demo! I was super excited for free food and I knew I needed to learn to cook so I was curious. I arrived at the location and the cooking started and I was BLOWN AWAY! I was so excited at the opportunity to learn to cook healthy, I knew I needed to learn more, at least enough to share with my family.
Learning and training was some of the most difficult things I ever had to do, I was pushed outside of my comfort zone and had to learn to present information to people and learn to cook live in person as well… Even though the learning process was challenging, it was also the most rewarding thing that I had done not only for myself but to help others learn too.
This was over eight years ago and I’ve progressed so much with my people skills and knowledge that I am now and independent Cooking Coach and Distributor of this amazing cooking system. I train people to do what I do and help Change Lives! I also host our live Cooking Classes and in-home Cooking Demos for families.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest challenge for me was just being brave enough to public speak and learn to cook. Cooking before my company was so bad, I joke and say I used to catch water on fire, which I have done!
And just public speaking used to make me so nervous it sounded like I was going to cry.
I know that if I can learn to overcome these challenges, I can help anyone learn!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I educate people about the Saladmaster Healthy Cooking System and how to cook to keep the most nutrition and flavor in foods naturally! I do this through live in-home cooking demos where I literally go and cook dinner for people and show them how easy, fast and efficient cooking this way can be. I can share something with any level of Chef or Home cook, and I love teaching people how to make traditional foods and recipes of any culture into healthier and delicious versions, so we can “have our cake and eat it too!” without the food guilt and can feel good in our bodies!
I love making cooking fun and easy, food puns are my favorite!
One of the things that I am most proud of is the healthier lifestyle home cooking has allowed me to learn for myself and share with others too. I am constantly learning to always grow my knowledge to better serve my customers!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Just keep trying! Recipes won’t always work out the way you plan, but each dish is a chance to explore food and flavors, expanding your knowledge and eventually, you’ll get good at creating from an intuitive place!
