Meet Megan Goldstein of IAF Compound in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Goldstein.

Megan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dancing when I was four years old. I came off stage from my first dance recital at age five and said, “I want to be on stage for the rest of my life” so that’s where it all started. From that point, I’ve been a competitive dancer competing at different competitions and conventions. I won The Dance Awards in 2017 where I got to travel and assist top choreographers on those conventions for a year. I met Chehon through Instagram and he invited me to do a photoshoot. From there, I started taking his classes and other choreographers classes at his space in North Hollywood, the IAF Compound. I started assisting him for the Joffrey summer intensive and our artistic styles are very similar so we started creating more together.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey has mostly been a smooth road. I’ve definitely had encounters with people and mentors that have been a struggle to overcome and process but I have been able to accept those things and work through them. I had to realize that the most important thing is to be myself and be actually happy.

Please tell us about IAF Compound.
IAF is a creative company. I am the creative assistant and movement director for the company. Specializing in dancing, creating on-camera visuals, and photography. I am proud to be a part of this company because we are always trying to push the boundaries of what we can create and do different. I think the way I view things creatively sets me apart from others and well as my movement in the way I dance.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t have done anything differently. I think everything happens for a reason and I am happy with my journey and I am excited for my path that lies ahead.
