Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Bicklein.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The Yes Girls was started in 2008 by Heather Vaughn, who was looking to fill a unique gap in the events industry to help men and women create their dream marriage proposals (rather than the cliche “propose over a nice dinner” proposal!) Having been the first marriage proposal planning company, The Yes Girls essentially started the Proposal Planning Industry from the ground up.
Today, we have thousands of incredible proposals and romantic events under our belt and two retail products- Box Sock and Schedule Me In.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with any company that’s paving the road for a new industry, there has been a lot of trial and error along the way. One of our biggest obstacles that we’ve worked hard to overcome has been trying to serve everyone. We have such a heart for our clients and their proposals and would love to touch every single relationship to help them thrive. That being said, we’ve found that when we try to help everyone, the business suffers. For this reason, we’ve niched down into more of a luxury market, and can therefore really give our all to our specific clientele.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Yes Girls – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Yes Girls proposals aren’t your standard “red rose petals in the shape of a heart” proposals. We truly believe that each proposal or romantic event should be as unique as your love story, so we have an entire team dedicated to brainstorming creative proposal ideas for our clients. Each proposal idea is completely unique to each client, and we NEVER use a stock-pile list of proposal ideas. Our ideas keep getting more and more creative, and that’s something that I truly don’t think any other proposal planning company can say!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The Yes Girls is always looking forward towards “what’s next”. Our goal as a company is to help relationships thrive at every stage, even beyond the proposal. We recently came out with Schedule Me In- a relationship planner to help couples connect amidst crazy schedules and (possibly) years of monotony.
