Meet Meg Powell of Loved Lots

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Powell.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Meg. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I come from a marketing background. I worked at numerous agencies and entertainment companies before my daughter, Eloise, was born. While I was pregnant with her, research became the name of the game- from birth to diapers, to baby gear. As most parents, my husband and I wanted nothing but the best for our new baby girl, so we set out to provide our daughter with the highest quality products, while also being environmentally conscious.

The problem is high-quality baby products are expensive and, as we would soon learn, little ones grow fast, needing something new every few months! When Eloise was about 6 months old, I began looking into the secondhand market for larger items, such as strollers and cribs. I found that there was no single place online to find the premium products that I desired that was both safe and easy to use. So, my husband, Ray and I set out to build that space.

Now, with Loved Lots, you can browse, buy or sell premium pre-loved baby gear in one safe and easy to use space. Not only will you find your favorite top-of-the-line baby brands for a fraction of the cost, you will also help our environment by creating a longer lifespan for these much-loved products.

Our philosophy: we love our babies, we love their gear, and we love the planet our little ones will grow up on. Why not spread the love by buying and selling pre-loved baby goods! In this spirit, Loved Lots also donates a portion of profits from each sale to Baby2Baby to help other children and families in need.

Has it been a smooth road?
While this idea has been brewing in my mind for about a year and a half, we just started working on the site at the beginning of the year. As with most start-ups, there have certainly been bumps along the way. The development of the site ended up taking much longer than expected and pushed our soft launch back by months.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Loved Lots – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Loved Lots is the online marketplace for premium pre-loved baby goods (meaning strollers, cribs, high chairs, etc.) When you visit our site you will find that it is simple and beautifully curated.

What sets us apart is that Buyers and Sellers benefit from multiple shipping and delivery options, including “white glove” local delivery (available only in the Los Angeles area), easy online payments, and trust and security through Buyer and Seller Protection Programs. Buyers rested assured knowing that if they receive their item and it is significantly different than advertised, they will receive 100% of their money back. Sellers will not incur any additional costs as long as they have accurately described and listed their item.

Trust and security are very important to us. While Users can choose local pick-up if that is what they prefer, we offer many options that eliminate the need to meet in person.

And, since all payments are done online, there is no need for awkward and potentially dangerous cash exchanges. There is no fee to browse, list or buy through Loved Lots. We take a 20% commission from the Seller once the sale is final. We are proud to donate a portion of every sale to help other families in need through Baby2Baby.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that Los Angeles is a diverse city with lots of cultures and, of course, beautiful weather. I think that most would agree that the traffic is the biggest downfall of living in Los Angeles.
