Meet Peter $un

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter $un.

Sunny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m Peter $un an artist from Richmond, Virginia. I started off writing poetry in elementary school before I knew what I was actually doing. I would try write words and things that I was going through and how I felt. I got uninterested until my junior year of high school when I went to a studio for the first time… I recorded a weak ass song over we fly high beat by Jim Jones but I had fun and loved the vibe of the studio and recording so I started doing it on my own. When I went to college, I used my financial aid money to get a little home studio set up and then I dropped out.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nah, it hasn’t been smooth but when you’re uncomfortable, you grow so I’m glad it wasn’t smooth. I gained a lot of confidence and learned myself through it all. I had my son when I was 19 so during the time I was recording my own music and trying to start my career, I was also being a father and working random jobs, doing features just to pay for my son’s daycare that week. When my music got bigger, I made a decision to move to LA for a little for better opportunities and shit. I was homeless here for a good amount of time… It’s been tough but I fly home often for my son so I’m still just finding balance in it all.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an artist… I write, sing, and recently started producing more. I paint and shit also.. random things when I feel like it but people said they like it. Idk if they lying but I like it so whatever.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
In the next 5-10 years, I’ll be a successful black artist & entrepreneur. Buying land and drinking mimosas in Italy for lunch and shit.
