Meet Maydelli Mendoza of Revolution thru SelfLove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maydelli Mendoza.

Maydelli, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story started in 1987 when my family immigrated to the United States from Mexico. I was only six months old. I can honestly say I considered myself as American as any other that was born in the United States the only difference was that I didn’t have legal status to prove I was a “real American.” Whatever that means!

When I found out I was undocumented a part of me died, mainly my identity. I didn’t know who I was anymore myself worth was to the floor and self-love didn’t even exist for me. In 2004 my life change as I walked into the real world with nothing but my deepest desired to prove to the world I was enough and I was worth it!

This not only took a toll on my health but also my spirit. It took many years of struggle depression and triumph to overcome all the adversity I endure during the years to come. My soul had a deep desire to help others find their path much faster than I did. I dived deep into healing my wounds, my lineage and my thought patterns those that were embedded in me by society and all other systems of oppression that currently exist.

A semester before I graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills I had the opportunity to travel to my country after almost three decades. In which time I submerged my self in a deep healing journey, and at the top of the sun pyramid in Mexico City I decided that from that point moving forward I was going to become who I was truly destined to be, and in the process, I was going to help so many others.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has definitely not been smooth but with each struggle, something beautiful was born whether it was healing, lessons or the opportunity to discover something new about myself a talent a gift that I could share with the world challenges always brought strength.

Having to deal with the fact that I was undocumented navigating the system with no legal status in the United States has definitely been my biggest struggle but also my biggest strength. From that situation opportunities was born my desire to find solutions made me very resourceful, definitely a blessing in disguise.
