Meet Maya and Miles Crosman of Space Party in Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya and Miles Crosman.

We are Maya and Miles Crosman, co-founders of SPACE PARTY LLC, siblings, and best friends. We have been creating together since childhood. When Miles finished his Acting BFA, and Maya was starting her Art & Design BFA, we began going to music festivals together and imagined an immersive musical experience of our own, which could incorporate our skills and storytelling abilities. We started with vision, research, and creating a TM and LLC. We threw our first event in the summer of 2017 and are currently working on our fourth event, Keyzo’s Hangar. We strive to build community around the brand, to take chances, and to never stop learning.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing comes easy when the goals are so lofty. While rich in ideas, getting the capital we need to execute our vision is always going to be difficult. Luckily, we have amazing friends who are willing to donate their time, and have been able to produce our minimum viable product to see what people think of the experience. So far the attendees have really enjoyed it, but getting people out to the event has also been a challenge. We’re still figuring out the right marketing strategy for what we do.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Space party– tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
SPACE PARTY throws sci-fi themed dance parties throughout LA. Guests are encouraged to dress up as their own original sci-fi character and enter a specifically themed alien environment connected to a story we establish in promo videos. Each party/story features new alien characters who mingle with the guests and play a role in the unfolding story of the event. We play versions of ourselves, an optimistic sibling duo that travels the galaxy throwing parties for aliens and getting into trouble. We perform original SPACE PARTY songs live at the event, and there is always a theatrical moment on stage that involves the established alien characters. Essentially, we took the idea of an immersive, story-driven, electronic music event, and ran with it as far as we could imagine. A friend told us that during our performance at the last event, someone in the crowd literally shouted “I am immersed!” Which is a good sign we got the intention across.

Do you feel like our city is a good place for businesses like yours? If someone was just starting out, would you recommend them starting out here? If not, what can our city do to improve?
We grew up in LA and it will forever be our home, plus it has more themed experiences than any city in the world. This makes SPACE PARTY a natural fit, as there are amazing production resources and a massive audience that embraces this kind of experience. People in LA love to dress up, see comedy, go to concerts and festivals, even weird pop-ups. The downside, of course, is the competition. There are a thousand things to do every night in LA. For someone just starting here, we recommend taking the time to explore and build your community. Go out, share your story, and maintain connections with people who you gravitate towards.

  • Tickets for our next event, Keyzo’s Hangar will be out soon. Early-bird tickets will be just $20!
