Meet Maxwele D’Angelo of Made In Pangaea in Sherman oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maxwele D’Angelo.

Maxwele, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Where do I begin? Well, I came to this country in October of 1988. My mom was very courageous to bring two young kids through the United States Mexico border. Oh yeah, we entered this country illegally back then for a shot at a better life. My mother and father the source of my drive and determination. We are all us citizens now and its something I definitely don’t take for granted. We grew up in East Boston MA, I became the artist and went to Juilliard (First member of my family to graduate from an institution of higher learning) my brother became a soldier joined the United States Army became a member of the 101’st airborne, did tour in Iraq and Afghanistan. Upon completion of School, I did outreach work in South Florida, working with underprivileged kids in Homestead To help implement an anti-bullying program in the high school.

Shortly after Florida with the imputes of my students I moved to Los Angeles to continue pursuing a career in actor and to hopefully someday became the first Brazilian actor to win an Oscar. After the 2016 election, I felt helpless with what was going on in the country that I have come to call my home and the divisiveness that was occurring. I decided to start MIP (Made in Pangaea) with all the experiences and people I met I in Boston, NYC, China, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Florida I saw that we are more the same no matter what continent, country or city you’re in. MIP is a response to the helplessness that I felt and instead of accepting what was happening to me and thousands of other people I decided to do something about it. MADE IN PANGAEA a brand that gives back.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road but I have had lots of support from friends and family. I started a clothing company with no first-hand experience on how to do it just the desire to do SOMETHING. Armed with YouTube, google and an undeniable drive to succeed I embarked on this crazy journey. Learning as I go. With a small help from friends family and strangers on Indie go I’ve been self-funding this passion on my own! oy! Learning marketing, finance and basically how to run a clothing brand all while trying to be the first Brazilian Oscar winner. lol

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Made In Pangaea – what should we know?
Made in Pangæa is a motivational and inspirational clothing company with the mission to inspire and unite the world all while lowering our carbon footprint. Right now it is purely shirts, tanks and Hoodies. Every piece serves a purpose. For every product sold we plant a tree in its place with an organization called One tree planted. What I am most proud of with MIP is the conversation it sparks when I tell people about what Pangaea is they are very interested and buy into what we are trying to accomplish. All while helping to reduce our carbon footprint, we only have one Earth and it would be so much more fun if we were united! lol

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
