Meet Matthew Rozo of One Thousand Eyes Productions in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Rozo.

Matthew, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always had a passion for photo and video. As a musician, I loved putting visuals to my songs because it gave an in depth description, connecting viewers and thus pushing me to use my creative side further. Although it was fun, it didn’t quite pay the bills. So when I started applying for jobs online, I was introduced to Frank Lewis. He worked with Final Phase Photography and hired me as an assistant to shoot events and commercials. Working alongside him, he taught me all the tricks and tools to use to make my own professional and creative content. From there, I constantly pushed myself to study other people’s films and watched many YouTube tutorials on gear and tips over and over, picking and choosing the foundation I wanted for my business. After years of shooting for other businesses, I started getting clients that loved my work and wanted my fiancé and I to film their wedding as a team! We have been doing it for several years together now and we love everything about it. There is nothing like seeing joy in a client’s eyes, or hearing that it brought them to tears.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yes and no. It’s been like the saying “you have to spend money to make money.” And it’s true. We’ve invested money because we are dedicated to doing our job and giving our clients the best. We realize it’s not going to ‘be easy’ but we have definitely been wise about what we need and don’t!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a husband and wife team of over 6 years who dream of nothing more than to make someone’s special day even more beautiful. We go above and beyond to gain our clients trust and friendship by creating a work of art that will last a lifetime. We are a candid and transparent business dedicated to doing what we truly love. We understand budget, we understand time, and we understand how important it is to have quality rather than quantity. We want to come together with our clients to make their day that much more special! I feel what makes us different from most other companies is that we do it for the passion and creative freedom – not for the money. We are very excited and feel this is only the beginning of our journey. We hope to travel and see some amazing things in the near future!

What were you like growing up?
I was the artistic, always-keeping busy kind of kid. From art to music, I learned to turn some of my greatest passions into a career. That same inspiration of drawing brought me to graduate with an A.S. in Graphic Design. I owe it all to the love and support of my family. My grandma, mother and father have always pushed me to do what I love and never give up. Music has never left my side either. I still write music and have played in multiple bands of different genres.
