Meet Marq Massengale of Mass Digital Content

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marq Massengale.

Marq, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I fell into production after struggling to find a way when returned home from playing pro football is Basel, Switzerland. My best friend Dustin Stern was field producing for FOX Sports West and saw that I had taken a strong interest in a video production class I was taking at Moorpark Junior College.

I was blessed to make several big connections from that opportunity and began PA’ing for free just to learn the game. I also bought a small DSLR camera, a used MacBook Pro and began shooting the free music video for anyone that would let me.

After a few years of PA’ing and assisting around town, I was lucky enough to connect with Ollie Stokes of Latitude Films, who took me under his wing and taught me how to produce and developed original sports content. With Ollie’s help, I got a job at FOX Sports as their Feature Producer/Director for Te UFC ON FOX.

After FOX, I went back to working freelance, which has given me the opportunity to travel the world working on some amazing shows and projects.

I’m now in the middle of producing and developing shows for my own digital sports network which I plan on launching in Spring 2020.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth ride…LOL…I moved back in with my mother for a few years before I began making enough money to stand on my own two feet. I have invested most of the money I have made back into building my own full-service production company, so I am a long way from being comfortable.

But I believe in the struggles in our journey. I think our goals should be difficult and should scare us.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My company “Mass Digital Content” specializes in original sports content. We produce shows, special features and interviews.

I’m proud of the moves were making in the digital sports world. We’re focusing on making content for the next generation.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t change a thing. I love every success and failure I’ve had.
