Meet Marlow Nunez of Good Guy Grip

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlow Nunez.

Marlow, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started as a grip back in 2008, working for other people and was barely grasping the idea of beginning a company.

Fast forward to 2013, I ended up buying a small bobtail (Truck) so that I could start my own company. Now I own 4 company vehicles. And I solely do business within the film industry.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth road. Sometimes. Mostly uphill but finally able to see a clear road for who knows how long.

There were times where I would barely be able to scrape by and recently married with a newborn. Times, I didn’t know how I was going to pay rent. Haha.

A lot of saving up and a lot of spending at the same time didn’t leave much for the family and extra adventures.

But despite of all the challenges, my wife is the one that kept me up for most of it.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Good Guy Grip story. Tell us more about the business.
My company provides motion picture studio equipment to movies, commercials, tv shows solely to grip department.

I specialize in the grip department myself as a key grip and a rigging key grip which allows me to have insight over the needs of the department that I’m able to provide for.

The thing I’m most proud of as a company is the fact that I can deliver a clean and competent piece of equipment to any production we are servicing.

The thing that sets my company apart from many others is the fact that I don’t do it for the money. I do it because I love to.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel like my life has all been based on good luck and opportunity. But that can just be my outlook.

When there’s luck you appreciate it and when there’s opportunity you take it.
