Meet Marlane Deanne of TidyFairy in Central Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlane Deanne.

Marlane, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Heather Dee and I started TidyFairy on a whim in 2016. We were both obsessed with organizing and had started doing our own closet and full home decluttering jobs on the side. We said why don’t we join forces? It took off right away – we’ve had clients from celebrities to working moms. They all say “Wow, you two really are fairies!” We like to think we make it fast and fun.

Has it been a smooth road?
Getting started in any new business can be challenging, but our biggest challenge is that potential clients need this, but are also a teeny bit afraid of doing it. There’s a sense around organizing that you know it’s going to change your life, and even if that’s for the better it can be scary! So our job is to reassure people that it will be fun, and concentrate on their life vision. It’s the one time that focusing on the end result is a good thing!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Heather and I mostly do the job together, which is a little different from other organization companies. We also have a YouTube channel that allows us to reach more people with the message that decluttering can help you focus on your dreams and build the life you want. It’s about being intentional with what you own. Bite-sized, easy to follow steps can really make an overhaul possible in a short amount of time. We have a “6 Bags in 6 Weeks” Spring Cleaning Challenge that epitomizes this. It’s not about what you get rid of, but about what you want to keep.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is a perfect city for a service like ours because there is so much need on every level. Some people are just starting out in their new apartments and are surrounded by odds and ends they no longer need, but you also have people in the Valley in 5,000 square foot homes drowning in their kids’ stuff. We also service high profile individuals who have plenty of space, but not the mental energy to enjoy it all! It’s a city of great diversity and big dreams that need support!
