Meet Dr. Mark and Yana Treystman of Academy of Dental and Medical Assistants in Commerce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Mark and Yana Treystman.

Dr. Treystman has been practicing dentistry in Los Angeles since 1999 and he opened his second practice, Commerce Dental Group in the City of Commerce in 2000. Dr. Mark loves his profession, his patients and brining smiles to the community. While he does not speak Spanish, the residents of City of Commerce have trusted him with their oral health for a long time. He has trained many Dental Assistants that came from big vocational school and has had to retrain them as learning in a classroom is different than working in a real office.

Yana has worked in vocational education industry since 2001. She was a campus director of a school in Hunginton Park and later, worked for an online school as well. Yana’s background is in all aspects of school operations including student services, job placement, and admissions

In 2018, together with his wife, Yana Treystman, Dr. Treystman decided to open a hands on training facility for Dental Assistants on the premises of his office.

Dr. Treystman created and designed the program to teach basic skill required for a Dental Assistant. Their program is hands on, and teachers are Registered Dental Assistants and licensed Dentists currently practicing in the State of California. Their curriculum was shared with Dr. Treystman’s colleagues for their input and to make sure everything that it meets their approval as well.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
First challenge is to get the word out there. We are a dental office and treating patients is what we do. We do know marketing, as Dr. Treystman’s practice grew based on word of mouth.

Letting people know what makes us different from other Dental Assistant Programs is be biggest challenge.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Academy of Dental and Medical Assistants – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
What sets us apart? All big name schools (UEI, NORTH-WEST, and others) teach Dental Assistants in a lab, and courses are 6 or 9 months. The cost is $16,000 and higher. Our program costs $2,499.00.

Our program is located inside a real dental office, with all real materials used today, our teachers, who actually work as RDAs or Dentists, teach students the latest skills that are required in today’s environment. We offer internship in our own clinic and in our fellow dentists’ clinics as well. We prepare students for interview, assist with resume preparation and a recommendation letter from Dr. Treystman is also included for those students who perform above expectation.

We are very proud of our program, and of the fact that we are able to offer it to the community in a short time for a fraction of the cost.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future we plan to open another location in our other dental office located on Wilshire Blvd, in Los Angeles.
