Meet mark Carson

Today we’d like to introduce you to mark Carson.

Hi Mark, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well, I got started back in 2006 with a clothing brand I owned. It was running for about eight years then I transitioned to Djing for brief stint in New York and Los Angeles. After that, I wanted to get my hands into the art world so I started painting. This was in 2016. That same year I was offered a 1500 sqft gallery space and that was the official birth of Not For Them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working for yourself and following a passion is never smooth. There were plenty of times where I had to sleep in the studio/gallery space or went without food. Steal for whole foods to eat. Unless you are rich….smooth road…hahaha damn, I would love to meet an artist that had a smooth road. Also, a lot of struggles is knowing if any of this shit will work (sell).

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently a gallery owner?/art dealer?/artist? I originally started as a fashion designer, moved to music, moved to artist, and my final move is gallery owner. I love putting together events, curating, sales just building hype around a project and making it relevant. I would say this is something I specialize in. People. I’m known as an artist but also as a gallery owner. I’m not sure which one is dominant to everyone else. I am most proud of all the skills and experiences I have gathered over the years to bring under one roof.

What sets me apart from others……. hmmm, I guess the thing that sets everyone apart… my personality and my oversized ego that comes with it ahahahahha

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Two words MONEY MANAGEMENT, this shit can make or really break you.
