Meet Mario Patrick of Breach in Palmdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Patrick.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We honestly started recording tracks in our friend’s Garage in 2010. We didn’t have actual recording equipment so we used iPhones and garage band or whatever free beat maker apps were available at the time. Blankets/Stockings for pop filters. Sweating the summers away until we had money for laptops and recording software.

Me and my two bestfriends always loved rap as an art form and loved competing to see who could come up with the best verse for beats we made. That was the real beginning of BREACH.

Has it been a smooth road?
I like to look at any obstacles we’ve faced along the way as lessons to be learned or ladders to climb. Janky promoters, online scammers and less than reliable booking agents are all just things I considered a part of trying to do things independently. There’s so many people making music nowadays it’s actually a lot more profitable to rip gullible kids off than to put the time and energy into actually helping people progress.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
BREACH is a rap collective at heart but we’ve all went to school and pursued other things while making music which have helped us tremendously when it comes to hosting our own underground events and putting on events for other talented artists to showcase their skills. Our educational background isn’t the only thing that sets us apart from other rap groups in our area. We also produce all of our own beats, write our own material as well as sell our services to people who want to create and collaborate!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
It’s not about where you’re at anymore. Thanks to the internet you can share what you’re doing with the world with the click of a button. Blaming shortcomings of your business on location has become all too common. We’ve done shows in Anaheim CA, San Jose CA, and DTLA without any problem. LA is only 45 minutes from downtown and vice versa so our local fan base gets to make an evening out of coming to see us do our thing then party with us after at an air bnb when we really get to clock in that personal time.
