Meet Mariah Kraft of Mariah Kraft Makeup Artist in Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Kraft.

Mariah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started doing makeup for my friends and family when I was in high school. I knew word got around that I was pretty good when some girls who went to another school called and asked if they could hire me to do their hair and makeup from prom. It was my first paid makeup gig and it made a big impression. After going to college and wasting time in a few dead-end jobs I decided makeup was what I really wanted to do with my life so I joined a makeup team in San Diego. Not long after that, I grew restless because I knew that there was more for me in the world. I packed up and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a full-time makeup career in Film. Since moving to Los Angeles my career has exploded. I have worked with some major celebrities and have been successfully working my way up the ladder. I mostly focus on music videos and private clients now but I still work on a few films a year. I am very happy that I moved here and decided to follow my dreams. I always encourage everyone I meet to do the same.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been a few bumps here and there but I have mostly focused on being very professional and I will never stop perfecting my skills. I believe that is what has built my reputation. I only hear good things about my work and I take great pride in that.

Please tell us about Mariah Kraft Makeup Artist.
I am a professional makeup artist, emphasis on artist. I focus on beauty and making people look like the best version of themselves. I am known for working quickly and paying attention to detail. I pay close attention to bone structure and skin undertones to create a flawless makeup application. I also have a degree in Forensic Technology so when the special effects jobs come around I have lots of experience with creating realistic looking injuries. I love to learn so I am always practicing new techniques and learning about how I can do what I do better.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memories are of playing dress-up. I loved to do my makeup and hair and put on dresses. I would do anything I could do to look outrageous. My mom says my first makeup escapade was when I was 1 year old. I pulled out all my mom’s stage makeup, sat in a pile of my dad’s freshly washed work shirts and got makeup all over everything.
