Meet Marcus Hinojos of Second 2 None LMTD. (Limited) in Southern California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Hinojos.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Marcus. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well first and foremost my name is Marcus Hinojos. I was born and raised in Tulare, CA. The Central Valley for those that do know where Tulare is haha. I am a designer and artist. I am a designer first then an artist second. I became an artist through design. I am the owner and designer of my brand Second 2 None LMTD. (Pronounced Second 2 None Limited).

I started making clothes for the exact same reason I did not want to make clothes. It was around 2012-2013, when Diamond was poppin’ off. I was always into clothes because I wanted to dress like my older brother when I was younger. Eventually I developed my own style. So I would buy clothes and post them on Instagram. After a while random brands kept following me. I would see these clothes they were making and all the followers they had. I without a doubt knew I could not only make better clothes, but make a true authentic brand.

Second 2 None, the brand name means; The Best. Number 1. First place. The brands Slogan is “Be Better.” You always want to be better in whatever it is you are doing. There’s always something or something better than you or what you are doing. So you have to push yourself to be better, that way you can stay on top. I want people to genuinely like the brand for the brand. So if you like it, then you like it, if you don’t, then it’s not for you. The LMTD. or Limited comes from the fact that everything that comes out of Second 2 None is only produced once. When it’s sold out, it’s gone. So you better not sleep haha.

To me the clothes I make is about forming a community; I wanted people to feel a part of something when they were my clothes. I want people to feel the same way their favorite song makes them feel when they wear S2N. I also want my clothes to be worn by completely different people in completely different environments. Second 2 None is for everyone and anyone.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve been thankful enough to have lots of support since I started making clothes or even had the idea of making clothes. From family to friends there’s always good energy surrounding me. Anyone who that makes clothes will tell you production is the most stressful thing but that just comes with putting in time. If you want good reliable resources that’s up to you to find. If you want something done right, do it yourself.

Second 2 None LMTD. (Limited) – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Like mentioned before everything that comes out Second 2 None is only available in limited quantities. To be honest there is no other brand that is exactly like S2N. I design everything myself put all my own time and money into this brand. It takes a lot for someone to produce a piece one time, selling out and knowing you can easily make more. But I choose not to do that because that’s how much pride I have in myself and the brand. Second 2 None isn’t just a brand. It’s how someone who wears S2N lives. I have people that have legit jobs wearing my brand and other people that are hustling hard another way. S2N is diverse.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I just want to make a living creating clothes. The day I can say I make a living by just making clothes and having no other source of income (unless is creating anything else) I will be successful. That is my goal. My dream is to open a store in LA and perhaps the Bay Area
