Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos Sotelo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Marcos. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We are a band that celebrates the music of Argentina’s most popular rock group ever, Patricio Rey Y Sus Redonditos De Ricota. We started by chance just jamming at our soon to become drummer’s birthday party. People enjoyed our set so much that they asked us to keep playing. We enjoyed it as well, so we rehearsed more songs, eventually booking a proper gig and over 100 people showed up. This was almost ten years ago, July 2010… Since then, we have played from Los Angeles to New York several times, opened for renowned Argentinean artists, appeared on national TV, etc. We feel like we are ambassadors of Argentina’s biggest rock group.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is always fun to play the music we love for people that also love it. We throw a party together. They are not there to see ‘us,’ we are there to enjoy the music we grew up listening to together. Having said this, there have been situations where we had to replace members, find new ones, make them fit with us musically, etc. Preparing for big shows having day jobs hasn’t been easy either, but in the end we always make it work.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is being happy with what you do. If you get in bed happy about who you are and what you have become, that means you are successful. If you are not there yet but you know you are on the right path, you can also consider yourself successful.
