Meet Marcel Cuevas of Marcel Photos in Palms, Culver City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcel Cuevas.

Marcel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a Photographer born in Los Angeles and raised all over lol. I have had the opportunity of living in city’s such as Austin, Houston, San Diego and of course LA. I’ve always been a social butterfly and because of this freelance photography has worked out great for me. I do specialize in the “Car Culture” scene.

This means I do large scale events as well midnight style meetups. My vision is to get these beauties in their natural state and for cars usually that’s either sitting pretty or on the move. Check out my work and give me feedback!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The life of an Artist is never a smooth road lol. It has been a pleasant and humble experience. Meeting people and getting to know their what’s and why’s during a photoshoot is always an amazing experience. That maybe during a wedding shoot or a sunset parking lot shot. People are always passionate about the things they love and I enjoy learning about their passions. The real struggle is competing in a saturated market but it helps to know that no one is perfect and we’re all capable of growing.

Marcel Photos – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is primarily Photography however I have been able to reach outside that box and market different companies to help them extend sponsorships. I specialize in Automotive Photography and more specifically panning shots. I really enjoy the work that goes into taking the best shot of a client’s project or daily car.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by those willing to recommend me through word of mouth or shouting me out on their social media platforms. I also have to say that I genuinely enjoy making connections that continue to grow outside of just a project. If a customer tells me they want to hang out and learn something new in terms of photography, I gladly invite them to tag along. This lets me know I’m obviously doing something right if someone is looking up to me for guidance.
