Meet Manny Maldonado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manny Maldonado.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
“Que Paso” “Que Paso”

I’ve been a professional stand up comic for over 20 years. I have been blessed to do what I do for a living. I’m originally from Modesto CA and this October will Mark ten years I’ve been living here in Los Angeles. This past December, I performed overseas in Alaska, Guam, and Korea for our Military. I haven’t performed onstage since March 13 due to the COVID19 Pandemic. Like many other entertainers, I’m doing my best to adjust. My friend and I produce a live comedy show (with a limited audience) once a month from our Garage. Once everything gets back to normal, I’ll be able to perform at clubs and theaters like I was doing before the pandemic. What I love most is being a father to my amazing son Erik.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a Standup Comic is never easy but I wouldn’t change the journey for anything at all! In the society we live in, you can’t make everyone happy. I try my very best at every comedy show and that’s all I can do. Making people laugh is the biggest adrenaline rush! Speaking in front of people and making them laugh and feel good is just awesome! There is nothing better than performing in front of a live audience.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
You know what’s great about my business is it’s really not a business “It’s a gift” that I use at every single show or event. As comics, we are a great community. I think I’m known for my high energy comedy. I give 110 percent at every show. I’m currently writing 2 pilots that I will be pitching to network television.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up with so many friends with different ethnicities and backgrounds molded me to the person I am today. My parents instilled me with great morals and values.
