Meet Dr. Mani Zadeh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Mani Zadeh.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in England and attended high school in London. I earned my Bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where I graduated with honors. I received my medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. It was in the third year of medical school that I chose to pursue a career as an ENT. I was attracted to the complex anatomy of the head and neck. In addition, I was interested in a specialty that allowed me to treat patients both medically and surgically. I completed a General Surgery internship, followed by a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, at Columbia University in New York.

After residency, I moved back to Los Angeles and have been practicing here since. I am fortunate to have become recognized as one of the top ENT doctors in Los Angeles. I attribute this to practicing good medicine and treating every patient like I would a family member. I have worked hard to develop a “mom and pop” practice where patients have become friends and there is a sense of calm and serenity in the office. In the time of short office visits and fast paced medicine, I focus on individualized care. I spend a lot of time with every patient to make sure all their needs are met and all concerned are addressed. I pay attention to the big picture and always try to treat the source of the problem and not just the symptoms. I give my cell phone number to my surgical patients for any questions or concerns. I am always available for my patients.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My main struggle in the field of medicine occurred about 5 years ago when I found myself seeing a large volume of patients daily. One of the most satisfying parts about being a doctor for me is patient relationships. However, the large volume of patients limited my time with each individual and as a result, the personal connection to each patient was getting compromised. I made a large change to my practice and reduced the number of patients seen daily. This change allowed a return to a level of patient care that I would like to receive myself as a patient. Not only did this allow me to provide an even higher level of personalized care to every patient, my mood and the mood of the whole office changed. I am now more passionate than ever about my practice and plan on keeping it this way until I retire.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in sinus, ear, nose and throat disorders and am the founder of the Los Angeles Sinus Institute. A large part of my practice focuses on patients with nasal congestion and/or sinus infections. I have extensive experience treating all types of nasal and sinus disorders, including cases of complex and advanced disease. I also have expertise in minimally invasive, image-guided surgical approaches.

I use the latest and most advanced ground-breaking medical and surgical techniques in treating sinus disease, with a special emphasis on treatment options that take into account nasal function and long-term results. I focus on innovative techniques and treatment modalities that offer my patients the greatest outcomes while minimizing risk.

I am fortunate to be recognized as a leader in the field of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. I am often consulted by my peers to evaluate patients with complex and advanced ears, nose and throat diseases. In a survey of physicians in Southern California for the purpose of identifying the top Otolaryngologists in the community, I was named by my peers and featured as a “Super Doctor” in Los Angeles Magazine. I am honored to be recognized by my fellow physicians as a leading Otolaryngologists- Head and Neck Surgeon in Southern California.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would not be here today without my teachers and mentors. At every level of my education there have been instructors that have influenced me greatly and increased my passion for learning. I come from an academic family with a strong emphasis on education. Growing up my parents provided an environment that made learning easy and fun. My wife and children are my support system and have played a large role in who I am today. I am a better person, father and doctor because of my wife. Last but certainly not least my patients deserve a large part of the credit for my success. I have learned about life, family and medicine from my patients. I have a small practice that relies on word of mouth and I would not be where I am today without my patients.
