Meet Manhattan Beach Hairstylist: Penelope Ponciano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Penelope Ponciano. She’s a rising star in the LA hair and beauty scene.  We’re impressed with her portfolio, her professionalism and her dedication to her craft.  Below you’ll find edited excerpts of our interview with her.

Penelope, please share your story with us.  How did you get to where you are today?

I have been in the hair industry for 13 years. I consider my self-blessed to be able to do what I love for a living. Thanks to my husband who saw the interest I had in hair styling and suggested I get in to beauty school. I would say I got all my skills and knowledge from watching and learning from amazing hairdressers that I have worked with in these past 13 years and from the interest I have in making myself better every year. Social media has definitely helped me expand my knowledge and work success.

Has it been a smooth road?

It has been a long road to get to wear I am but I’m glad to say that my business is growing more every day. My latest milestone was having my work be on the cover of LA Bridal Magazine 2016 spring edition. Looking forward to working in more fun projects like that.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to have made a name for myself in the hair styling industry. I would love to be published in more magazines and work with high profile clients. It has taking me a long time to build my clientele but feel blessed to have my clients keep referring me to more people. I still have not had that moment wear I feel like I have reached my goal in this career but do feel like I am getting closer to it.
