Meet Mahrael Boutros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mahrael Boutros.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I had a rough childhood, at home and school, so I used my imagination to escape reality. I wanted to become an artist, but I was just 14 and living in Florida. There’s not much opportunity in the area that I’m from, so I just started creating my own content. I dabbled in everything from photography to videography. I don’t like to limit myself to one medium because I think art is an ongoing, ever-changing thing.

Please tell us about your art.
I like to create things that open people’s minds and leaves them feeling better. My artwork comes from a place of loneliness that keeps confusing itself with happiness.

Photography: I like to bring an image that I see in my head into reality. I like to capture a person’s insecurity and show them what I see through my eyes.

Stand-up Comedy: I like to share my story because it’s relatable. If I can laugh at my misfortunes, I think it helps other people deal with theirs… and if not, then at least they get to see me laugh at myself for a few minutes.

Short Films: All aspects; acting, directing, filming, etc. I like to write scripts that bring compassion and understanding.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Success to me is doing what I love and still paying my bills. Doing what I love requires that I be true to myself and always be supportive.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My photography work is on my website mahrealist.com and pexels.com/@Mahrealist
– My photography is currently at over 5 millions views online. Some of my work was featured in Toronto, Canada in late September, and recently in Florida at the Florida Feminist Festival.

I have a YouTube channel that is currently under construction. New content on the way so check it out!
