Meet Maggie Szabo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Szabo.

Maggie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Maggie and I’m a recording artist and songwriter from a small town in Ontario, Canada. I moved to Los Angeles a few years ago to continue to pursue my music. I write songs for myself as an artist, as well as DJs, other artists, and for film and TV.

I started out writing songs by myself as a kid and now have had my music premiered by outlets such as Billboard and Huffington Post. I write lyrics and melodies for some of the worlds most talented DJs which often takes me to the EDM capital of the world, Amsterdam! My songs have been featured on Disney, E!, CBS and TV Land and I have written music for some incredibly talented artists anywhere from Canada to Germany.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The music business is never a smooth road, but it has shaped me into the artist I am today. There have been a lot of struggles, but the reward of being able to create music every day far outweighs that. I am really grateful that I am able to do what I love.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m known as a recording artist and songwriter. I specialize in writing songs, and often singing them as well! My job is different every single day, but the constant is that I am always creating. What always changes is who or what I am creating for; sometimes it’s for myself, sometimes it’s for DJs, and sometimes it’s for a specific project in a film or TV show.

A lot of my songs are uplifting and I am most proud of a video I did with the Trans Chorus of LA. I wrote a song ‘Don’t Give Up’ that was dedicated to the trans community, and I was able to perform that song live with the TCLA! That made me most proud of what I have done because it stood for something really important to me.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I think if I had to start over, I would have been more confident in myself and my music as a kid when I was starting out.
