Meet Magalie René

Today we’d like to introduce you to Magalie René.

Magalie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Someone should’ve told me the “s” in somewhat stands for settling. I chose PR because it’s a “somewhat” creative field that was still corporate enough to appease my Haitian parents who wanted me to become a lawyer. #Firstgenerationproblems

I ended up working in PR and Marketing for nearly 15 years creating campaigns for companies like Heineken, Allied Domecq, HGTV, Fidelity Investments and more. But, as a compulsive creative, I always felt compelled to have an artistic side project cooking. The lesson there? When you have a calling, life won’t leave you alone until you fulfill it.

The real turning point came when I got divorced. Suddenly (and finally!!) settling in any area of my life became intolerable.  I quit PR and devoted myself fully to my calling as a creative.

I  jumped head first into all things mindset, motivation, manifesting, and spirituality.  Here are my must-reads: You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, A New Earth by Eckart Tolle, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Throw Away 50 Things by Gail Blanke.

I learned two key things:
1. My decisions until then were driven by subconscious patterns rather than my own conscious design.
2. I would never be fulfilled until I could OWN my talents and skills and SHARE them powerfully.

I took a job in philanthropy at the Ford Foundation and gave myself 5 years to find a creative pursuit I could parlay into a sustainable living and made it happen!

It took 3 things: 1.  Getting my mind/spirit foundation rock solid. 2. Following my joy (which happened to be art & design) 3. Creating a step-by-step plan WITH a timetable and taking action.

When year five arrived, I took the leap out of corporate into my Interior Design business, Consciously Design, where I focused on redesigning schools.

From then on it’s been all about the level up.  I became the bestselling author of “Kid-Smart Spaces – Decorating a Classroom That Changes Lives.” I was featured in national magazines including Dr. Oz The Good Life and Good Housekeeping, and eventually found myself supporting others in launching their business.

My business and passion are now focused on helping purpose-driven entrepreneurs conquer their fear, develop thier brands and monetize their businesses.  It’s been a wild, winding and incredibly fulfilling road.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Heck no, it hasn’t been smooth!  I remember the maaaannnyyy years my friends’ careers thrived as mine floundered. I meandered from interest to interest. I hung out in middle management. I quit jobs. I changed tracks. I took on hobbies. I was directionless.

I also think about the emotional challenges along the way. I’ve been divorced twice and had to heal and learn how to love myself and thrive on my own.

At the end of the day, challenges are what make you graceful and strong.  If you made it through the last one you know you’ve got it in you to do it again.

To be honest, I broke through these challenges mainly by finding what I refer to as my Zone Of Purpose. It’s the place where your gifts, experience, and your divine calling (the thing that lights you up) intersect.

You’ll know you’ve found yours when:
-It scares you senseless.
-There’s nothing else you’d rather be doing.
-You stop taking vacations to escape, and start taking them to enjoy.
-You find yourself being fully yourself and therefore attracting the kinds of people (romantic and otherwise) who accept and honor you.
-You realize you always knew you were meant for this.
-It wasn’t easy, but if I found it so can you.

Please tell us about Magalie René Int’l.
As a Business Strategist, my practice applies a unique blend of growth-mindset, spirituality, neuroscience, and brand messaging to help clients overcome fears and successfully design their life’s work. As an Author, Speaker, and Workshop Facilitator I offer practical entrepreneurship tools with EQ and spiritual approaches.

I’ve worked with Fortune 500 companies like Heineken, HGTV, Kaiser Permanente, Fidelity Investments, and New York Life Insurance on marketing, public relations and brand ideation but most important is I’ve experienced firsthand what it takes to build a successful brand and business after the corporate life because I’ve successfully done it. I share the realities of what works and what doesn’t work.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing. If one thing happened differently, it would be the butterfly effect. Every moment, even the deeply painful ones, have led me to where I am now. It was all worth it.
