Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Margot.
Madison, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a pop singer/songwriter born in Los Angeles, California, I began writing songs at the age of 11 years old as well as playing guitar and piano. My songs are often described as “storytelling pop”, I make personal detail the focus of my work. My songwriting is honest and confessional… I love to focus on lyrics and want people to hear my music and feel like their own stories are being told. Getting to where I am now has been challenging. It takes a lot of ups and downs to get even the slightest bit of success. But I believe that this is my purpose! So I don’t let anything stop me.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road is never smooth and I don’t expect it ever will be! But that just means that when you finally do get to where you want to be, you feel a great amount of gratitude and appreciation for it. A lot of the struggles come from within as well. Not feeling confident in myself and my abilities was something that I had to overcome. It is something that I still deal with, but I believe that I am supposed to be doing this! So I keep pushing through. No matter how many doors don’t open, no matter how many people say no, I try to not let it get to me.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a singer/songwriter who is known for my autobiographical lyrics. I love to share details because I believe that is how music is supposed to be – truthful. It is not something that I force though. I find that I write as I am feeling and it all just comes out that way. My new album The Chronicles of Lovers just came out and I am so proud of it because of those honest moments. I wrote all of the songs myself and that was something that was really important to me! I wanted my first album to be completely me – my words, my melodies, my music. I got to work with amazing producers and the songs are exactly how I dreamed them to be.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Los Angeles is the greatest city on the planet. It is such an open-minded, diverse place. It is where the dreamers go to become who they want to be. It is where you can count on sunshine. It is a place that truly allows you to be free. I am so lucky to have been born and raised here. I feel like it made me the person I am. I guess the traffic is what I like the least. But even that is okay because I get to listen to my playlists.
