Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyla Bennett and Matthew Lesnet.
Lyla and Matthew, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We started with hosting free sound baths in the park for our community. Eventually, we decided to expand and add multiple methods of alternative healing and life optimization! Now we host mini day festivals, with yoga, meditation, conscious talks and connection workshops along with live music and art. Our gatherings also have small businesses that are aligned with our mission pop up and share their crafts for the day and yummy vegan food vendors. Our intention is to bring all the wayshowers of a greater way of living together to connect, learn, and grow with one another. Creating a space where we can all return to our origins and heal ourselves while healing the earth while experience joy!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a beautiful journey and we are still continuing to grow and expand, learning so much along the way. We are completely self ran and the only challenge we’ve faced is making sure to hold our original intention of keeping our gatherings free our all or very affordable. As we grow and expand our expenses have grown as well and it has been challenging to keep up with them all.
Please tell us about Community Healing.
Our mission is to spread healing to our community through a variety of alternative modalities. We host bi weekly sound baths in Long Beach and Los Angeles along with larger gatherings once a season. Our large gatherings or held outdoors, and always free for all! All our events are family-friendly and we highly encourage children and families to attend. We promote health optimization and have all vegan food vendors and sustainable businesses pop up to share their craft. We also bring out different healers (massage therapist, reikie practitioners, card readers ect) to share their medicine.
We also host Conscious concerts where we bring out an artist to share their music with the community along with a selection of vendors. Every event is opened up with a group meditation and sound bath.
What were you like growing up?
Lyla: Growing up, I was a huge people pleaser. Always wanted to help and take care of everything and everyone. I was always really joyful, smiling, sometimes out of shyness but still always smiling. I’m the youngest so naturally grew up pretty fast, trying to keep up with my older sisters. I’ve always had a very open and pure heart and been passionate about making others happy while keeping myself happy. I’ve always been really into music and singing.
Matt: Very into sports.
