Meet Lucy Wood in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Wood.

Lucy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a 23-year-old pop singer based out of Los Angeles. I originally began my journey as an artist at the age of 19 in New York playing shows at various venues, where I also recorded her first EP and wrote for other music artists. After opening for a benefit concert at The Hollywood Greek Theatre in 2015, I soon after moved out to Los Angeles to further my career. Since then, I’ve has continued performing, writing and will be coming out with new music and videos this year.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s had incredible ups and various downs. Pursuing music as a full-time career can be scary because there’s really no set path, so sometimes that can get you a little anxious. The downs I look at as learning experiences or blessings because it’s made me stronger and wiser. I’ve had to maneuver and look out for certain “professionals” that I was going to or did work with. One producer, in particular, took advantage of my kindness and young age that I got screwed over financially and didn’t follow through with a thing they promised. It brought me down because I thought it would really jump start me to the next level I needed but that made me stronger and from my strength I jump started, became more confident and work with various and awesomely talented people now where I know it’s just a matter of time.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lucy Wood – what should we know?
I’m a pop singer. And I specialize in writing for myself and for other artists. Mostly, focusing on lyrics and the melodies. I’m most proud of my focus on creativity and being different from others in the sense that I really care about the lyrics but also making sure each song fits the criteria for a hit or that works with mainstream music and will grab attention/sell easier. And I feel like that sets me apart from others as well. Mostly, because I put my heart and soul into any song I write, any show I play and I make sure to always be positive and support other artists. Because we need each other in this industry.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
There’s a few different ones. But first and foremost to me, is being honest and truthful. It helps in different aspects most importantly being that people will want to work with you and will trust better that you’re professional and that you won’t let them down on the project whatever it may be. As well as if you’re honest as a person, your music will mean just that much more through the lyrics matching the story of the vibe. And you can connect with fans and listeners better too. And of course, another characteristic I’m happy to have it being driven and motivated to be the best artist and human I can be. That and being humble have made such a difference.
