Today we’d like to introduce you to Louise Cheng.
Louise, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Similar as many women in their mid-40s’, some of them have already established a successful career, some of them may already in a stage of harvesting of what they sowed, and perhaps some of them are still continue working hard and climbing herself up and trying to be on top in every single moment of life simple because they don’t want to be left out in the society. I am the same, having a dream career as a director of music at a local church for 13 years and 20 years full-time music teacher have given me lots of enjoyment and accomplishment as well as social status, friendships and love by the community. I love my job dearly. Two years ago, I decided to start off a new journey from ground zero, meaning I didn’t have any prior knowledge or experience of whatsoever I am going to explore in life. I want to become a doctor !! I went back to school again to get the education and in April, I will be certified as an Ayurveda practitioner. Three months ago, I also established a healthcare clinic with my husband who is a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine.
So I am a new business owner all of a sudden (not quite all of a sudden, it took time to plan for all though) and working now as a practitioner to help people to understand better their life. I am also a propsective Ph.D student of Mind-Body Medicine in cohort 2020. I want to share with people that nothing is impossible, and life is too short and as long as we can afford to do so (if we can’t, there will still ways and things to work out and work around with, you will just need to think about it seriously), it will be a life-changing experience and I am certain to share that this experience will be memorable and meaningful to you and people around you.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been completely smooth road. Struggles are you are learning everything from the beginning and it is not easy……lots of time and dedication in my studies, time management, family time, etc.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about AyurAcu Health Group – what should we know?
Our business is AyuAcu Health Group, it means we provide Ayurveda and Acupuncture service to the clients. I am specialized on diet, lifestyles and herbs recommendation, Ayurveda is a traditional medical science from India back in 5000 years ago, it focuses on balancing mind and body through daily routine, diet, and herbs treatments. I would explain more on external treatments. We are evidence-based practice and we did research and we apply western pathology with eastern homeopathic approach in our practice etc. I feel proud of our business(clinic) as we believe health coaching is the use of evidence based conversation, clinical interventions, to safely engage our clients in their health behaviors.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Humbleness, respectful to the people regardless of where they are coming from, be there for them and listen to them and being non-judgmental. Everyone has their own experiences and you would not able to understand them by judging and over suggesting; however, you can listen to them and show that you are there for them.
