Today we’d like to introduce you to Lou Harvard.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m not sure about a unique story, I decided one day to start shooting and I’ve moved forward ever since.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a portrait photographer, I take pride in presenting quality work. I am in constant competition; I’d like to be in conversations about great artists. I’m not sure about a direct message or inspiration but I do hope to invoke a feeling. The same feeling you get watching your favorite athlete or listening to your favorite artist. I work hard trying to achieve perfection in my work though I may fall short at times. I want people to zoom into every picture to see the amount of work I put into every detail.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I believe it is also our duty to utilize our platform to raise awareness on issues not being covered by the media. Alternatively; It’s fair to say the world is growing increasingly dark. I believe art eludes that poison. On your worst day a joke, a song, a movie, a photo can make you smile; however brief. Artist must use their talents to provide shelter from the everyday bleak reality some people may face.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
If you like my work; share it, comment on it, hire me, tell a friend. I am greatly appreciative of all methods of support.
