Meet Los Angeles Makeup Artist: Viviana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviana.

Viviana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My love for makeup started at a young age. Growing up in a household with 4 older sisters , I was always surrounded by makeup, fashion, and beauty which had a big influence on me becoming a makeup artist. I’ve always loved makeup and giving people makeovers. One of my dreams has always been to become a makeup artist and I was going to make sure that fulfilled my dream. My journey as a professional makeup artist began in 2013 when I first took my first personal enrichment makeup class. I then enrolled in a professional makeup course where I was taught most of the things that I now know. I then received my makeup artistry certification from Next Level Artists Studios and began my business “Makeup by Vivi”. Over the last few years, I have worked on many clients, fashion shows, and photo shoots. Thanks to the power of social media and word of mouth I am able to continue to book different gigs.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth, As a new makeup artist, you have to pay your dues which includes doing a lot of free work, working long days, making mistakes, assisting other artists, etc. all so that you can gain experience and get your name out there. Over time you start to get the hang of things and you start learning from each experience. You just have to remember to keep on going even when you feel like giving up.

What are some of the influences that have played the biggest role in your journey so far?
Yes, makeup instructor Lyllie has been a huge inspiration and mentor in my career. Anytime I have any questions about the business or need advice she has always been there to help me. I’ve been a fan of her work for years! She is also an amazing makeup artist!

Do you have a favorite type of client or project?
I would like to work with a few celebrities in the near future. My ideal project would be working on a celebrity and have my work printed in Vogue magazine.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were just starting out?
I don’t think I would have done anything differently. I am happy with the makeup training that I received, as well as all of the experience that I have acquired so far.

Great article!! Nice to see local angelitas following their dream. My mom has the skin condition vitiligo and Viviana has done my moms makeup before and helped her look as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside!
