Meet Lori Russo-Ocampo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Russo-Ocampo.

Lori, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have known Adam since college. He was in the music Dept, I was in the Theatre Dept. at USC. We have done several projects together and have been supportive to each other’s careers over the years. It has been such a pleasure to work with him on this project.

He is a joy and genius. And an amazing friend. I am currently working on a couple of projects as a producer and actress. Right now…I am producing a series of videos on Argentine Folklore dance, inspired by my brother & sister-in-law,Omar Ocampo and Monica Romero of Argentina’s  famous “Los Ocampo”. Tango, in Argentina, up until now, has been the primary dance form celebrated worldwide for many decades. We are bringing to light and celebrating the beautiful art form of Argentina’s Folklore and Gaucho tradition and paying homage to many maestros, who have contributed to this art form, as well as hopefully, introducing the world to the Great Maestro and Creator of the “Gaucho” dance, Santiago Ayala “El Chucaro”.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. Getting out of my own way, overcoming fear, insecurities are a few of the challenges. With Reiki, because it is energy healing work/ spiritual healing work, it can be challenging for people to seek it out or to not be leary of it. It now has been accepted in the medical profession as a viable tool to ease stress, accelerate healing, and ease depression to nam a few. They are even inviting Reiki Practitioners into the operating room. So, we have made huge strides since the 1930’s when it was introduced to the United States. Much like when acupuncture was illegal and thought of as woo woo. Now, Reiki, like Acupuncture, is a respected holistic complimentary practice for all kinds of ailments.

Reiki Healing Journeys – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My Reiki business is Reiki Healing Journeys. I am a Reiki Master Practitioner, Spiritual Counselor. I combine the use, if reiki, music, spiritual counseling, guided meditations, essential oils and my intuitive skills. What I am most proud of is that my clients feel safe and heard. I customize each journey to the individual. I offer practical tools to empower them. What sets me apart from others, is that I am an artist myself, I really offer people a common ground to meet me. I make this work tangible, attainable and human. It is one on one work, very sacred and vulnerable & emotional at times. It is of the utmost importance to me to provide them  with a safe haven to build the courage to allow themselves to grow and heal.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am hoping to expand my artistic work into more producing & directing projects. I am hoping to bring Reiki into the Corporate sector. I feel stress levels are very high in that arena and Reiki could be a powerful tool to keep people grounded, focused and positive. Also, of course… I am hoping to continue to grow my work with Artists and continue to teach them how to apply Reiki and meditation to their artistic work and personal lives.
