Meet Lori Barron of Priya Apotheca in Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Barron.

Lori, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I met my partner Judit in a plant medicine ceremony. It was a profound moment in my life and I was asking the universe to show me what was next and how I could serve more people with the work I was already doing as an Acupuncturist, Herbalist and Intuitive Energy Worker.

That weekend Judit Konrad and I came together and instantly felt like we were kindred souls bonded by the spirit of the plant we were working with. I saw clearly how plant medicines open people up and expand their consciousness. So although we spoke we were both doing our own internal work that weekend.

As it so happened I was an invited speaker to another event months later. I was telling a friend there, who also happened to be at that same ceremony in which I met Judit, how cannabis was becoming more part of my practice. I was prescribing cbd to a number of my clients and seeing phenomenal results in their health and well being. With this clarity, a vision of creating my own tincture and skincare line using the cannabis plant had begun percolating. When I shared this she said immediately, “You have to connect with Judit! She’s doing exactly the same thing!”

I was floored that Judit and I had been led in the same direction, and we quickly reunited. From there it was a magical path filled with so many synchronicities! We realized from the beginning how both of us were medicine women; she from the future with her doctorate in pharmacy as well as cosmetic chemistry and I from the ancient lineage of traditional Chinese medicine and plant wisdom. Additionally, Judit had already been working with the cannabis plant and had been certified in 2 cannabis production programs. It was then that the ancient future of skincare and wellness was truly born in the name of Priya Apotheca.

About 15 months into our journey we realized we needed a business partner. Judit and I were making the products but we soon saw the needed a business partner. As the universe provides, at that same time one of my acupuncture clients, Tracy Brown, who had always struck me with her knowledge of business and marketing.

A few times I commented to her that she should be our business partner but she had a well-established career in advertising and director representation. Cut to about six months later where Tracy had gone through who own awakening. She had come to see that her true calling was to support and empower women and the next time we met she asked me more about our company and the rest is Herstory! We became a trinity and were complete!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh my, good question!

There have been challenges for sure! What you don’t quite realize when partnering with others is that it is like a marriage! We are three very unique and strong women, each with different perspectives (and thankfully we still do!) We knew we had created an amazing products but had different ideas of how she should be presented to the world.

Due to how different we were as people, our vision in how to introduce Priya, then adding start up finances, we each had days where we wanted to throw in the towel! There was a few moments when I questioned whether we would make it together or not. So, suffice it to say, we’ve all shed our fair share of tears!

This journey is not for the faint of heart for sure!

I will share this, I believe it is a deep faith and heartfelt passion that doesn’t allow you to give up. The vision I held within that what we were doing would serve so many women and empower them to love themselves was undeniable. We all shared this deep belief that what was being created would lift the spirits of many.

For us, this has always been bigger than skincare. Priya is a conduit to self-love, to see the beauty within ourselves and each other.

In the process of birthing this company, all three of us essentially experienced Priya’s mission! Each of us has learned a tremendous amount about ourselves, each other, as well as our own boundaries and how to speak our truth with love and compassion. Its truly been a divine union. Not easy one, but as we all know it’s our greatest challenges that allow us to grow beyond our limitations and rise as individuals and as a partnership.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Priya Apotheca – what should we know?
Priya Apotheca is a consciously created, clean, vibrationally alive, ageless CBD skincare line. Our deep belief is that beauty radiates from the inside out and have therefore developed a synergistic line of internal and external skincare products. We infuse so many things into our products including over 25 plant botanicals and a myriad of science proven ingredients.

We are also very proud of our CBD. We made the conscious choice to not use CBD oil in favor of water soluble CBD which is the most bioavailable form of CBD. But we don’t stop there…we imbue each product with our sacred ceremony adding an energetic quality to our creations. We make our products intentionally with the lunar cycles, sing mantras (sacred sound) into the products, and infuse them with reiki from our hands. Finally everything gets a Tibetan bowl sound on completion. We are deeply proud of this unique process.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Trust and faith…in what you’re doing and the people you’re doing it with. Knowing that something greater than us is working on our behalf and that the ups and downs are part of the journey. That even in the tough moments we are being supported.

Also equally important is intuition. We are being guided and we each have felt this from the beginning. We trust in each moment that unfolds before us and we follow our gut. That has been another significant gift on this journey; listening to that inner knowing. We feel when it’s right and when it feels wrong. Thus, we’ve all gotten very adept as saying “NO” at times.

Often in business, you hear the advice to say “yes” to everything in the beginning. I would disagree, I think much of our success is due to being discerning and mindful about the decisions we make.

Finally, the most important characteristic – love. It’s our “north star”. We know the energy and intention with which we are creating these products will match those who are holding and calling forth that same frequency of love, compassion and unity. It’s amazing to watch. We’ve often seen at an event that people will just gravitate to the products and hold them, saying how good they feel. They will almost always say, “I don’t know why!”. But we do. When we tune into the subtle energies we can feel them, it just resonates in our hearts. We all want that connection.
